Why Am I Starting A Travel And Lifestyle Blog Now?

Who Am I And Why Am I Writing Anything?

It’s easy to take the world we live in for granted, especially in today’s modern society with the hustle and bustle of a career. My name is Ken Brooks and I’m learning to stop and smell the roses. Also, I have a lot to say and a lot of great photos to boot!

About five years ago, I fell in love with photography. I blame my my wife for this horrible addiction that wakes me up early for sunrises and keeps me late for the sunsets. However, travel and photography go hand in hand. What better way to put a photography hobby to use than to travel and see all that you can?

I live in Florida and the beach is a great place to learn how to use a camera. Photography has also helped me bring my Facebook and Instagram audience with me on my journeys. Instead of snapping a photo to say “You would have had to be there”, my goal is to actually take them there. You see this photograph? Yes, this is exactly what I saw.

Starting The Travel Blog

I realize now how much different a travel lifestyle blog is to write than a photography portfolio website. Writing content to go with my photography is daunting. I can’t just slap a few pretty pictures on the post and call it a day. While a picture may be worth a thousand words, it does nothing in the way of SEO. However, I’m especially thankful for the great travel blogs that already exist. Matthew, from the Expert Vagabond, writes a particularly good guide for people like me.

Writing a blog gives me the ability to tell my story from my point of view. Nobody else was able to see it exactly the way I did, so let me tell you about it. Hopefully, I can inspire you to visit someplace that I’ve been and you can thank me later!

The more I write, the better I get. This is my first post read more like a college term paper than a casual conversation. My wife read it and asked me, “Why do you write like this? This isn’t how you talk!”. Consequently, I am re-writing it to be more like a conversation than something you want to grade.

Onward And Upward!

I’m starting this travel photography blog to channel my creative imagination into beautiful, thought provoking imagery with a verbal narrative. I sincerely hope that my musings and photography captivate or inspires you to travel and #GetOutAndExplore.
